| Obverse description | Central field depicts the historical scene known as the 'Vase of Soissons': a helmeted Frankish warrior at right, rendered in draped robes and holding a staff, stands opposite a semi-nude figure at left who raises an axe to smash a large amphora-style vase placed between the two figures. The composition references the celebrated episode from the reign of Clovis I. The curved legend 'CLOVIS à SOISSONS' arcs across the upper field, while the descriptive legend 'la scène du vase' curves along the lower field. |

| Reverse description | Central field bears the heraldic shield of Soissons, displaying a fleur-de-lis on a horizontally lined (azure) background within a cartouche-shaped escutcheon. The denomination numeral '2' appears to the left of the shield and the word 'euro' in lowercase curves vertically to the right. The legend 'DE SOISSONS' arcs along the lower rim, while the event dates '26 SEPTEMBRE · 7 OCTOBRE 1997' arc along the upper rim, referencing the local euro festival during which this token circulated. |
