Beschrijving keerzijde The standard European Union reverse design features a geographical map of Western Europe spanning both the inner core and the outer ring on the right side of the coin. The denomination '2 EURO' is superimposed across the map, with the large numeral '2' set in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean to the left. Six vertical relief lines in the inner core visually connect the upper and lower segments of the outer ring, which bears twelve stars of the European flag, six above and six below the map.

Aanvullende informatie

Penelope Delta — novelist, not mythological figure — is best known for *Treason*, a 1937 novel set during the Macedonian Struggle that shaped how generations of Greek children understood the early twentieth-century fight over Ottoman Macedonia. Her selection for this issue follows Greece's established practice of honoring cultural figures on the standard circulation commemorative, a program running since the currency's reintroduction in 2002. Delta died by suicide in April 1941, the day German forces entered Athens.
