Reverse description The reverse features the large numeral '2' dominating the right portion of the field, set against a background of diagonal parallel lines radiating across the entire surface. To the left, the European Union flag is depicted furled on a flagpole, bearing the circle of twelve five-pointed stars. Below the numeral, the letter 'C' — denoting 'cents' — is superimposed over an oval cartouche bearing the word 'SPECIMEN', clearly identifying this as a trial or pattern piece.

Additional information

The Czech Republic never adopted the euro. These specimen pieces were produced as part of the official "euro starter kit" trial sets issued ahead of an anticipated accession, allowing Czech institutions and the public to familiarize themselves with euro coinage before a changeover that, as of this writing, has still not occurred. Czech law technically obligates the country to adopt the euro upon meeting convergence criteria, but successive governments have postponed setting a target date indefinitely.
