Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse, common to all Eurozone 2 euro cent coins, displays the numeral '2' in large relief at left, accompanied by the legend EURO CENT. A stylized globe map occupies the right portion of the design, depicting Europe in geographic relation to Africa and Asia, emphasizing the continental identity of the common currency. Twelve stars of the European Union border the upper portion of the design, and the mint mark letters 'LL' appear within the composition, denoting the designer Luc Luycx of the Royal Belgian Mint. Fine radial lines in the field provide a distinctive background texture.

Aanvullende informatie

Ireland was one of the first eurozone members to see its cent coins virtually disappear from active circulation — not through policy but through habit. Irish retailers began rounding transactions to the nearest five cents informally well before the government formalized the practice in 2015, rendering the one and two cent pieces functionally obsolete within a decade of introduction. The Central Bank continued issuing them largely to satisfy collector demand and treaty obligations within the eurozone framework.

Coins dated after roughly 2013 turn up almost exclusively in mint sets.
