Twelve five-pointed stars, symbolising the European Union, encircle the design along the rim. The engravers' initials 'ΓΣ' appear discreetly within the design. |

The common reverse, designed by Luc Luycx, displays the large numeral '2' in the left field, with the inscription 'EURO CENT' positioned in the upper right. A globe centred on Europe is depicted in the lower right quadrant, overlaid with diagonal lines representing the interconnectedness of the European Union member states. Six five-pointed stars arc along the upper right rim, and six more along the lower left rim, together forming the twelve-star EU symbol. The engraver's initials 'LL' appear to the right of the globe. |
