| 裏面の説明 | The standard European Union common reverse, designed by Luc Luycx, features a map of Western Europe spanning both the inner core and outer ring on the right side, with the numeral '2' prominently placed in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean to the left. The denomination 'EURO' appears in relief to the right of the map. Twelve stars of the European Union are distributed along the right arc of the outer ring, six above and six below the central map, with six vertical stripes bisecting the inner core to visually unite the star groupings. |

Monaco's 2 euro commemorative program is tightly constrained by the Eurozone agreement governing microstates — the principality is allocated a strictly limited annual mintage, making nearly every Monaco commemorative scarce relative to demand. This 2024 issue marks the 500th anniversary of the death of Charles V of Monaco, better known as Charles I of Genoa, who died in 1524 having established the Grimaldi family's legal claim to permanent sovereignty over the Rock — a claim that survived French annexation, Napoleonic dissolution, and two World Wars largely intact.
