| Obverse description | Central device comprising a radiant sun with a human face occupying the field, the solar disk rendered in relief with alternating straight and wavy rays emanating outward to the inner border. The circumferential legend PROVINCIAS DEL RIO DE LA PLATA runs along the periphery in Latin script, separated at the base by a small rosette ornament. The design is bold and deeply struck, characteristic of the early Republican coinage of the Río de la Plata. |
