Obverse description Central crowned quartered shield of arms of the Spanish monarchy, displaying castles and lions in alternating quarters, surmounted by a royal crown. The mint mark 'M' and assayer initial 'J' appear to the left of the shield, with the denomination numeral '2' to the right. The legend PHILIPPVS V D G runs partially around the shield in Latin script, separated by ornamental stops. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan of milled Spanish gold coinage of this period, with a beaded inner border framing the central device.
