| Opis rewersu | A bold cross pattée at centre, set within a quadrilobe formed by four interlocking arches, creating the characteristic heraldic tressure design typical of Spanish Habsburg gold coinage. The four quadrants formed by the cross each contain a small circular pellet or ornament. The surrounding Latin legend along the irregular flan periphery reads HISPANIARVM REX followed by the date 1655, introduced by a cross pommée. The design is characteristic of the cob-style hammered coinage produced at the Barcelona mint in the mid-seventeenth century. |
