Reverse description A bold, plain cross potent centered within a quatrefoil composed of interlaced arcs, dividing the field into four quadrants. The surrounding peripheral legend HISPAN · REGNORVM · REX · (King of the Hispanias and Kingdoms) runs along the outer margin in Latin characters, partially struck as is characteristic of hammered macuquina gold coinage. The design is deeply struck with the cross dominating the flan.
