Fernando VI's reign saw Lima operating as one of Spain's most productive American mints, but the 1747–1749 window falls within a transitional administrative period following the broader Bourbon reforms that restructured colonial treasury oversight. These cob-style gold pieces — macuquinas — were already an anachronism by the late 1740s, with milled coinage having supplanted them in silver decades earlier. Lima was among the last mints still striking gold in this irregular hammered format.
KM#46 is known with assayer marks for 'R' (José Rodríguez de Carassa), whose tenure at Lima ended by 1750.
