| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned quartered shield of the Spanish Royal Arms occupies the central field, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in alternating quarters, struck in the characteristic irregular cob (macuquina) style typical of New Granada colonial gold coinage. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown of elaborate form, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The mint mark 'S' and assayer's initial appear to the left of the shield, with the denomination mark '2' to the right. Fragments of the Latin royal legend are visible around the periphery of the irregularly shaped flan. |
