| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, his hair tied with a ribbon at the nape and styled in the late 18th-century court fashion with a queue. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style introduced for Spanish colonial coinage under Charles IV. The circumferential legend reads CAROL IIII D G HISP ET IND R, separated by bullet stops, with the date 1794 positioned in the lower exergue. A toothed border frames the entire design. |
