Obverse description Armored and wigged bust of King Carlos IV facing right, wearing a cuirass with decorative shoulder armor and a ribbon-tied queue visible at the neck. The portrait is executed in the neoclassical style engraved by Pedro González de Sepúlveda, with fine detail in the hair and military dress. The encircling Latin legend reads CAROL·IIII·D·G·HISP·ET IND·R·, identifying the monarch as King of Spain and the Indies by the Grace of God. The date appears in the lower exergue area of the legend, flanked by pellet stops. The field is smooth and the portrait occupies the majority of the coin's face.
