Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, rendered in the neoclassical portrait style characteristic of late 18th-century Spanish colonial coinage. The king's hair is styled in a short queue typical of the Bourbon period. The circular Latin legend reads CAROL·III·D·G·HISP·ET·IND·R· (Charles III, by the Grace of God, King of Spain and the Indies), with the mint date positioned in the lower exergual area. A fine toothed border frames the design.
