| Obverse description | Armored bust of Carlos III facing right, rendered in the colonial portrait style characteristic of the Mexico City Mint during the early milled coinage series. The king is depicted with a draped and cuirassed shoulder, without a laureate or diadem. The circular legend surrounding the effigy reads CAROLVS III D G HISPAN ET IND REX, with the date 1761 positioned in the lower field beneath the bust. The portrait displays the somewhat stylized, high-relief engraving typical of Mexican gold coinage of this transitional period. |
