Obverse description The Chilean national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a five-pointed star, supported by a rearing horse to the left and a condor to the right, both crowned. The shield is surmounted by a plumed crest and rests upon a decorative foliate base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE runs around the upper periphery, with the mint initial S at the lower right. The date, flanked by two small stars, appears in the lower exergual area.

Reverse description A standing figure of Liberty faces right, helmeted and draped in classical robes with a pauldron of scale armour, her left hand resting upon a rectangular altar inscribed CONSTITUC. and her right hand holding a fasces or spear. The circular legend IGUALDAD ANTE LA LEI runs around the upper periphery, with the assayer initials and denomination indicators at the right and lower margins. The denomination 2I Qs appears in the lower exergual area, indicating 2 escudos of 21 quilates fineness.
