Additional information

Sobhuza II ruled Swaziland from 1899 until his death in 1982 — a reign of over 82 years, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in recorded history. This issue commemorates his 80th birthday in 1979, three years before his death and two years before he suspended the constitution and assumed full executive powers by royal decree in 1973, ruling thereafter by proclamation alone.
