| Beschrijving keerzijde | Within a reeded inner circle, two standing figures face one another in a scene depicting Christ and a Pharisee engaged in dialogue, rendered in a Renaissance figural style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries coinage. Christ, nimbed and robed, raises his right hand in a gesture of teaching or instruction, while the turbaned Pharisee stands opposite in rich attire, extending a coin toward Christ. The circumferential Latin legend, separated by pellet stops and a cross, alludes to the biblical passage on rendering to God and Caesar their due, running between the reeded inner border and the coin's outer edge. |
