| Obverse description | A formal baroque garden is depicted in perspective view, with geometrically arranged parterre beds adorned with lozenge and floral designs in the foreground, flanked by tall trees and a decorative fence in the middle ground. Above the garden, a radiant sun bursts through the clouds, its rays illuminating the scene below. The two-part Latin legend is divided along the left and right inner border of the coin: POST NVBILA FVLGET above, and PATRIÆ NOVA GERMINA PROFERT below, referring to the sun shining after clouds and bringing forth new growth to the homeland. The composition is rendered in fine high-relief engraving characteristic of late 17th-century Bavarian medallic art. |
