Obverse description Elaborate crowned coat of arms of Bavaria at center, displaying the quartered Bavarian lozengy and Palatinate lion shields, supported by two rampant lions as heraldic supporters, the whole surmounted by an electoral bonnet. The date 16-47 is divided across the field flanking the crown. The circumferential Latin legend reads MAX·CO:P·R·V·BA·D·S·R·I·ARCHID·ET·EL·, abbreviating the titles of Elector Maximilian I, Count Palatine, Duke of Bavaria, Archduke, and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire.
