Obverse description Central to the design is the ornate oval heraldic shield bearing the arms of Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg, surmounted by the ecclesiastical wide-brimmed hat and archiepiscopal regalia, all enclosed within an elaborate inner circle. The shield displays the quartered coat of arms typical of the Salzburg archbishopric combined with the personal arms of the Kuenburg family. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the design, commencing at 12 o'clock, identifying the issuing prelate by name and title.
