Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Holy Roman Emperor Matthias II facing right, wearing an elaborate imperial crown, within a circular legend. The effigy displays a ruffled collar and beard, rendered in high relief characteristic of early 17th-century German klippe coinage. The surrounding legend reads the emperor's full titulature in Latin abbreviation. The entire design is struck on a square (klippe) flan with raised borders.
