| Description de l’avers | Draped bust of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, her hair dressed in tight curls and bound with a veil or widow's coif, with a brooch or jewelled clasp at the neckline. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a naturalistic Baroque style. The encircling Latin legend reads M THERESIA D G / R I HUN BOH REG, identifying the empress as Empress of Rome and Queen of Hungary and Bohemia. The legend is separated by a raised dot and runs along the inner border of the beaded rim. |

| Description du revers | The imperial double-headed eagle displayed, each head surmounted by an archducal crown, with a third larger crown at centre top bearing a cross. The eagle's breast is charged with a composite shield bearing the arms of the Habsburg hereditary lands. Below the shield, the denomination numeral 2 appears in an oval cartouche flanked by the mint marks H and S for the Hermannstadt (Sibiu) Mint. The date appears in the upper left field, and the abbreviated titles of the empress encircle the design within a beaded border, reading AR AU DUX BU M P TRAN CO TYR. |
