| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents an animated hunting scene in high relief, showing a large antlered stag being brought down by two pursuing hounds in a wooded landscape setting. The stag is depicted mid-stride with its head lowered, while the hounds close in from either side against a background of trees and foliage. The bold legend HALLALI, the traditional huntsman's cry signaling the death of the quarry, curves along the upper field in Roman capitals. The engraver's initial 'S' is faintly visible at the lower field, attributing the work to Anton Schäfer. The overall composition exemplifies the aristocratic hunting culture celebrated at the Hessian court of Landgrave Louis VIII. |
