正面铭文 IOHANNES WILH D G C P R S R I A T & E
背面描述 Ornate shield of nine heraldic escutcheons arranged in a cruciform cluster, surmounted by an electoral bonnet, all within a beaded border. The individual escutcheons bear the arms of the various territories held by John William II, including those of Jülich, Cleves, Berg, and the Palatinate. The surrounding Latin legend, reading in two parts HOC BELLONA / STIPENDIVT, references martial glory. The mint-master's initials IAL and the date 1707 appear in the legend. The overall design is bold and heraldically rich, typical of high-quality Electoral Rhenish gold coinage of the period.

附加信息

John William II, Elector Palatine, was one of the most aggressive Catholic consolidators in the post-Westphalian German states, and his coinage program reflected dynastic ambition as much as monetary need. The 1707 date places this issue squarely within the War of the Spanish Succession, during which John William — brother-in-law to Emperor Joseph I — leveraged his imperial connections to restore Palatine electoral dignity stripped during the Thirty Years' War. His court at Düsseldorf became one of the most lavish in the Holy Roman Empire, funded partly by his wife Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici's considerable fortune.

The Noss Pf#818a attribution suggests a specific die pairing documented by Alfred Noss in his foundational study of Palatine coinage.
