| Description de l’avers | Conjoined busts of Henry II and Margaret of Valois facing one another in profile, their heads surmounted by a single royal crown. Henry, on the left, is depicted in armour with a ruffled collar, while Margaret, on the right, appears with an elaborate coiffure. The effigies are rendered in a Renaissance style typical of late 16th-century French feudal gold coinage. A circular beaded border frames the design, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the field. |
