| 裏面の説明 | A rectangular architectural tablet, surmounted by a royal crown and flanked on either side by rampant lions supporting the frame, bears a four-line Latin inscription giving the denomination, issuer, and date. The tablet is set within an elaborate cartouche of Baroque strapwork and scrolling ornamental decoration. A small armorial shield appears at the top center above the tablet, within the crown. The date 1632 and mintmaster initials appear within the tablet itself. |

This piece was struck by the Archbishopric of Mainz to commemorate Gustavus II Adolphus of Sweden following his dramatic capture of the city in December 1631 — an occupation the Archbishop-Elector Anselm Casimir Wambolt von Umstadt had fled in advance. The Swedish king held Mainz for months, using it as a winter quarters and strategic base on the Rhine.
Gustavus died at Lützen in November 1632, making this a commemorative issued within the very year of his death. The Ahlström reference places it among a small series of Swedish-occupation donatives from captured German territories.
