Reverse description The prancing horse of Hanover, the heraldic emblem of Brunswick-Lüneburg, depicted leaping to the left in high relief with flowing mane and tail, occupying the central field. The date 1699 appears in the lower field flanked by small floral ornaments, with the mintmaster's initials I·I below. The circular Latin legend QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT — 'Where duty and glory lead' — runs along the upper periphery, separated from the milled edge by a plain border.
