The surrounding legend, arranged around the entire periphery in Latin, reads VOT : PUBL : SUSCEPTA · PRO : SAL : & · RED : DEO · O : M : SACR, translating as 'Public vows undertaken for safety and return, consecrated to God Almighty,' commemorating the Saxon campaign against the Ottoman Empire. |
