Obverse description Armored bust of François I facing left, depicted with shoulder-length hair and wearing a pauldron with visible gorget and decorative breastplate. The effigy is rendered in a Renaissance portrait style typical of early 16th-century Milanese coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the design. The circumferential Latin legend reads FRANCISCVS D G FRA REX, identifying the issuer as King of France by the grace of God.
