| Description de l’avers | Facing busts of Ferdinand II and Isabella I, conjoined and facing one another in profile, both crowned with ornate Gothic crowns, occupying the central field. Between the two crowned busts, a small crowned shield is depicted at the base. The effigies are rendered in a late medieval hammered style with fine drapery detail visible on the shoulders of both monarchs. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central design, reading FERDINANDVS ELISABET DEI GRACIA REX ARA, separated by cross stops. |

| Description du revers | Central field dominated by a large quartered royal arms of Castile and Aragon, combining the castles of Castile, the lions of León, the pales of Aragon, and the chains of Navarre, surmounted by an ornate Gothic crown with trefoil finials. The shield is elaborately rendered in the late Gothic heraldic style typical of the Catholic Monarchs' coinage. Supporters or decorative mantling flank the shield on either side. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design reading VALENCIE MAIORICARVM SARDI, denoting the principal territories of the Crown of Aragon, separated by cross stops. |
