Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Emperor Ferdinand III facing right, depicted bare-headed with long flowing hair and a short beard, wearing an elaborately decorated cuirass with a lace collar visible at the neck. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque style characteristic of mid-17th century Habsburg coinage. The Latin legend encircles the bust within a beaded inner border, identifying the emperor by name and title.

Reverse description Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed with wings spread, bearing on its breast an escutcheon charged with the arms of Bohemia. The eagle is surmounted by a large imperial crown, and the date 1640 appears within the surrounding legend. The circumferential Latin legend, reading continuously around the field within a beaded border, records the monarch's titles as King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia.
