Aanvullende informatie

Zwolle was among the smaller Dutch civic mints operating under the States General's authorization to strike gold ducats, and its output was always modest compared to the great provincial mints at Utrecht or Holland. The city's ducat coinage circulated primarily in the Baltic trade networks, where Dutch gold was accepted by weight rather than face value — a practical reality that explains why so many civic issues from this period show edge nicks and test marks from foreign merchants checking fineness.

The KM#58.1 designation separates this issue from later Zwolle ducat types. Delmonte recorded very few surviving examples attributable to the city's 1655–1662 striking period.
