Obverse description Crowned and armored figure of Ferdinand II seated on horseback, advancing to the left, holding a sceptre or lance in his right hand. The king wears a crown and flowing robes over his armor, depicted in the late Gothic style characteristic of Aragonese coinage. An inner beaded border frames the equestrian effigy, with the Latin legend disposed around the periphery within a beaded outer border. The irregular flan and bold relief are consistent with contemporary hammered gold coinage of the Barcelona Mint.
