| Beschrijving keerzijde | Crowned multi-quartered shield of arms displaying the eleven-fold dynastic bearings of the House of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern, including lions, horses, and other heraldic charges arranged in the quarterings. The shield is surmounted by an elaborate ducal crown and framed by a decorative laurel wreath. The date 1678 appears in the exergue below the wreath. The Latin motto legend encircles the outer border, separated by a beaded rim. |

Ferdinand Albert I founded the Bevern line of Brunswick in 1666 when his father, Duke August the Younger, partitioned the territory among his sons — a dynastic subdivision that left Bevern as one of the smaller and more financially constrained branches of the House of Welf. Gold issues from this court were accordingly rare, produced more for ceremonial and diplomatic purposes than circulation. The 1678 date places this piece early in Ferdinand Albert's reign, just as the duchy was still establishing its independent mint identity.
