| Opis rewersu | The reverse bears an entirely epigraphic design consisting of eight lines of Latin inscription filling the field, recording the biographical and funerary data of Duke Ernest I: his birth on 25 December 1601, death on 26 March 1675, a reign of 35 years, an age of 73 years and 3 months and 1 day, and his interment on 4 June 1675. The text is rendered in a crisp serif capital lettering with a beaded border encircling the entire composition. There is no figurative imagery; the inscription itself serves as the sole commemorative element. |
