正面描述 Draped bust of Charles Ferdinand Vasa facing left, depicted with long flowing hair and a pointed beard, wearing elaborate armour with decorative chain mail visible at the neckline. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the bold baroque style characteristic of mid-17th century German ecclesiastical coinage. A beaded inner border frames the portrait, with the circumferential Latin legend reading CAROLVS. FERDINAN. D.G. PRIN. P. ET. SV. distributed around the field.

附加信息

Charles Ferdinand Vasa, Bishop of Breslau from 1625 until his death in 1655, was also a serious candidate for the Polish throne following the abdication of his brother John II Casimir in the 1650s negotiations — a political ambition that never materialized. He held the bishopric simultaneously with Płock, accumulating ecclesiastical wealth and authority unusual even by the standards of Polish royal younger sons placed in Church office.

Breslau's episcopal mint struck ducat multiples in very limited quantities, primarily as presentation pieces rather than circulation currency. Fr#511a distinguishes this from the more common single-ducat issues of the same bishop.
