Obverse description The crowned arms of Ulm occupy the central field, with the date 16-17 divided to either side of the shield. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the design, reading from the lower left upward and around. The shield displays the characteristic Ulm heraldic device and is surmounted by an ornate crown. The inscription commemorates the Evangelical Jubilee year of 1617, marking the centenary of the Reformation.
