Reverse description Square klippe flan with diamond orientation, featuring an ornate border of interlaced chain and foliate arabesque motifs enclosing the central field. A decorative arabesque flourish appears at the apex above a four-line Latin inscription reading POST / TENEBRAS / LVX / 1517, the celebrated Reformation motto meaning 'After Darkness, Light,' with the date 1517 referencing Luther's posting of the Ninety-Five Theses. The overall design is bold and well-centered, consistent with the refined hammered klippe technique of early seventeenth-century Strasbourg civic coinage.
