Obverse description A fully armored knight stands facing right in the field, his figure bisected vertically by the date. In his raised right hand he holds an upright sword, while his left hand grasps a bundle of seven arrows — the traditional symbol of the seven United Provinces. The knight is rendered in the Dutch tradition inherited from the Republic coinage, with fine engraving of the armor's detail. The encircling Latin legend reads CONCORDIA RES PAR · CRES · TRA, referencing the province of Utrecht, and the date divides across the knight's body.
