The frame is richly adorned with symmetrical scrollwork, foliate ornaments, and floral bosses at the corners and along the borders, all rendered in high relief. The inscription declares the coin's authority as the monetary issue of the federated provinces of the Netherlands, struck according to imperial ordinance.
