Reverse description The prancing horse of Brunswick — the heraldic Hanoverian steed — is depicted in left profile, rearing with forelegs raised and tail flowing, set upon a ground line with sparse vegetation. The motto PARTA TVERI arches above in the upper field, reflecting the dynastic device meaning 'To Protect What Has Been Gained.' In the lower exergue, the Roman numeral date MDCCXXV appears on one line, with the mint master initials HCH below, separated by a small crossed-hammers mintmaster mark. A finely milled border frames the entire design.
