(Translation: Ducat of the Republic of Lucerne.)
Reverse description Full-length figure of Saint Leodegar (Leger), patron saint of Lucerne, depicted in full pontifical vestments including a mitre and cope, striding to the right. In his left hand he holds a crozier, and in his right hand he carries an auger, the instrument of his martyrdom, rendered with fine relief detail. A nimbus radiates from behind his mitre, emphasising his sanctity. The circular legend SANCTVS LEODEGARIVS surrounds the figure, divided on either side, against a flat field with a milled outer border. The overall composition is typical of the accomplished baroque engraving associated with Hedlinger's work for the Lucerne Mint.
