Reverse description A five-line Latin inscription reading MO · AVR / PROVIN / CONFOE / BELG · AD / LEG · IMP, displayed on a recessed rectangular tablet enclosed within an elaborate ornamental frame of scrolling foliate strapwork. The frame is richly decorated with symmetrical acanthus-like scrolls at the cardinal points, characteristic of Dutch Baroque decorative engraving. A milled or grained border runs along the outer edge of the coin. The inscription abbreviates the standard Dutch provincial gold coinage formula, identifying the coin as gold money of the confederate Belgian provinces struck according to imperial law.
