正面描述 The civic bear of St. Gallen, rampant left with collar, rendered in fine relief at centre, enclosed within a twisted rope border. The Latin legend encircles the field, reading MO: NO: CIVI: SANGALLENSIS with the date 1621, separated by rosette stops. The bear's fur is finely engraved with hatched lines, conveying naturalistic texture characteristic of early seventeenth-century Swiss gold coinage.

附加信息

St. Gallen struck this two-ducat piece in 1621, the same year the Thirty Years' War was reshaping credit networks and trade flows across the Holy Roman Empire. As a free imperial city dependent on its linen trade and the reputation of its currency, St. Gallen had strong incentive to maintain high-fineness gold coinage — the .986 purity here was not ceremonial fastidiousness but commercial necessity.

The HMZ 2-895a reference places this among a small group of documented St. Gallen gold multiples from the early seventeenth century, all of which survive in very limited numbers.
