The king is shown with a prominent profile and draped shoulders, occupying the central field within an inner beaded border. The surrounding circular legend reads LVDOVICVS D G REX FRANCO SICIL IHL, identifying the issuer as Louis XII by the Grace of God, King of France, Sicily, and Jerusalem. | Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays the French royal arms: a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis arranged in the classic France Moderne style (three fleurs-de-lis), surmounted by a closed royal crown with visible arches and fleur-de-lis finials. The shield is boldly rendered in the hammered technique typical of early sixteenth-century Italian gold coinage. An inner beaded border frames the design, outside which the circular legend reads MLI DVX ASTENSIS QVE DOMIN, referencing Milan, the Duchy of Asti, and the lordship, establishing the coin's territorial authority. Lettering is in Gothic majuscule with pellet stops separating the abbreviated titulature. |
