The circular Greek legend ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α! ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ runs along the upper periphery, translating as 'George I, King of the Greeks.' The engraver's signature Γ. ΙΑΚΩΒΙΔΗΣ appears incuse in small letters below the truncation of the bust, and the date 1911 is positioned in the lower exergue.
