Reverse description The quartered Sforza-Visconti coat of arms, displaying the imperial eagle and the Visconti biscione (serpent devouring a child) in the respective quarters, surmounted by two crested and plumed helms set atop a crown, the whole arranged within an oval cartouche. A cross pattée appears above the helmets at the top of the field. The heraldic composition is executed in high relief, characteristic of Milanese hammered gold coinage of the late fifteenth century. The circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design.
