Singapore's Lunar New Year collector series has been issued annually since 1981, making it one of the longest-running bullion-adjacent programs in Southeast Asia. The 2018 dog year issue falls in the fourth cycle of the twelve-year rotation — the series having completed three full zodiac cycles before this striking.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore maintains strict mintage caps on these releases, and secondary market premiums on earlier dog-year issues from 1994 and 2006 have consistently outpaced their silver melt value by a wide margin.
